Step 3 – Change How You React

A third step on how to deal with anxiety encourages you to change how you would react to the stressor. Making sure you focus on what is most important first is vital. Try joining a support group or confiding in someone you can trust. It is important to share your issue with someone who understands.

Step 4 – Letting the Stress Go

Letting go of the stress is the fourth step to handling it without drugs. This will take a lot of practice but it can be accomplished.

Other Ways to Deal With Anxiety and Stress

The four steps above are great ways to deal with stress but there are other ways you can deal with stress. What are they? Here are some examples:

- Focus on something that is not stressful
- Meditation
- Listening to music
- Reading
- Exercise
- Journaling

From there, your therapist will determine if medication is right for you.
